With 17,000 kilometres of coastline and 45,000 sq. kilometres of reef systems, PNG offers divers the most spectacular underwater views and experience.

PNG is surrounded by the Bismarck, Coral and Solomon Seas and is home to some of the worlds most exotic species. From tiny, delicate nudibranchs to the world's biggest fish, the whale shark, divers can encounter them all.

The reefs are a photographer's paradise. Make the most of diving, while at Kimbe Bay.

Trekking

West New Britain offers trekking enthusiasts the opportunity to go bush trekking through virgin rainforest, perhaps to explore a volcanic crater or to go bird-watching. Exploring the World War II Wrecks is a great experience too.

About 20 kilometres west of Kimbe, off the Talasea Highway lies a great trekking trail. Go for a trek through the oil palm plantations and rainforest up to the fascinating volcanic crater of Mount Gabuna, where sulfur fume holes blow steam and green bubbling mud pools create absolutely mind-blowing scenes. The walk up to the crater takes about three hours.

Golfing

The San Remo Golf Course at Kimbe is one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in PNG. It offers the perfect setting for business, leisure, and of course golfing!

Other golfing attractions include the Mosa Golf Course in the oil palm township of Mosa, the Madang Country Club's golf course, and the one at Kavieng.

Bird Watching

PNG has over 700 species of birds including 38 of the 43 unknown species of the exoic "Bird of Paradise".

Spread across 11,000 hectares and dotted with bubbling mud springs, Pokili Wild Life Management Area is about an hour's drive east of Hoskins.

The colour of the pools varies from the distinctive yellow of sulphur, the green of minerals and the jet-black of mud and pumice. The fowl bury their eggs nearby, taking advantage of the warm ground.

Pokili is a great place for bird-watching.

Heritage Sites

With over 5.5 million people with more than 800 different languages, PNG has one of the richest cultural diversity in the world.

PNG hosts a number of cultural festivals and regional shows where visitors can experience the many visual and performing arts of PNG, the most popular shows being the Hiri Moale, held in Port Moresby every September, the Mount Hagen Show, held annually in August and the Goroka Show, every September.
